WTG CommVault Customer Appreciation Seminar

BOSTON (March 10, 2010) – Winslow Technology Group, LLC (WTG) hosted the second annual CommVault Customer Appreciation Seminar at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Boston. Over forty WTG clients came from across New England to hear from WTG and CommVault representatives, and interact with fellow CommVault users.

Scott Winslow, President and Founder of WTG, kicked off the meeting with a warm introduction, giving a brief update about WTG including the company’s recent VMware reseller certification. Winslow thanked the attendees for their role in helping WTG become recognized as a CRN Fast 100 Growth company. CommVault’s Larry Irvin then provided an update on CommVault’s momentum in the marketplace, highlighting the company’s dedication to staying “two steps ahead of the issues” their clients face. Larry commented that CommVault now has more than 11,500 users worldwide and has experienced 29% annual year over year revenue growth.

Jim Harrell, WTG’s Vice President of Systems Engineering, spoke about “Best Practices,” with hands-on advice for best leveraging CommVault software. He addressed increasing de-duplication ratios based on content type, limiting the number of storage policies in play, and many other useful tips in the day-to-day administration of CommVault. He provided two de-duplication case studies—one in technology and one in financial services—where users dramatically reduced their backup requirements. Harrell concluded his remarks by recommending that users attend CommVault’s local administration training classes to take full advantage of the features and add-ons CommVault offers.

The seminar’s keynote speaker, Dave Simmons, Systems Engineer with CommVault, gave a thorough review of the Simpana 8 architecture. CommVault specializes in data de-duplication, and Simmons explained several different ways to increase storage capacity, time, and cost efficiency. Archiving stale data and encrypting data before it’s de-duplicated are two strategies that he reviewed. Simmons also highlighted CommVault’s common technology platform and the importance of data security in an increasingly litigious culture.

The seminar was followed by a delicious dinner at Todd English’s Kingfish Hall, after which the group attended a Boston Celtics game.
