WTG Compellent Users’ Group Fall ’08

BOSTON (September 9, 2008)—Over forty clients of Winslow Technology Group made their way to Boston, Massachusetts on September 9th, for the sixth semi-annual Compellent Users’ Group hosted at Hotel Commonwealth. The purpose of the meeting was to provide customers with the latest technical information to help better leverage their Compellent SAN investment. It was also a chance for clients to share user related experiences and hear feedback from other SAN users.

Jim Harrell, Winslow Technology Group’s Vice President of Systems Engineering took the podium to show a live demo of “Point and Click” disaster recovery. This presentation showcased the ease-of-use of the Compellent software SAN by replicating a volume to a remote location, declaring a disaster, and then recovering the volume at the remote location.

The meeting’s featured speaker, Marty Sanders, Compellent Technologies Inc. VP of Technology Services, reviewed Compellent’s architecture. He also acquainted the attendees with Compellent’s roadmap for the future, and explained new features. Kevin Pazera, Compellent Storage Architect, and Winslow Technology Group’s Jim Harrell shared “Lessons from the Field”. They covered everything from Windows Free Space Recovery and performance enhancing Fast Track software to Dynamic Block Architecture. Russ Leathe of MacLeathe presented disaster recovery services offered by his organization.

After the meeting, attendees were given a chance to relax and enjoy a dinner at Elephant Walk and Red Sox Game.
